City leaders have worked tirelessly to improve its local streets and roads, in addition to completing important drainage improvements and providing new public facilities. These challenges continue to be met, and today Yucaipa offers safely traveled roads throughout the community, much improved drainage systems and a number of new public facilities. Kettleman City Safe Routes to School and Roadway Reconstruction Project (Finalist)

Extensive public outreach during the plan’s development revealed residents’ primary concerns which included excessive speeds along SR41 and providing a safe route to school for their children. In 2009 a Caltrans Transportation Planning Grant was awarded to the County in the form of an Environmental Justice Grant. Construction of Street Improvements on Del Amo Boulevard

This half-mile segment of Del Amo Boulevard connects the easterly City limits to other cities and Orange County. In addition to rehabilitating the northerly pavement the project replaced sidewalk, curb and gutter, eight ADA-accessible ramps, provided for low impact development (LID) improvements to capture all storm water and urban run-off and infiltrate it into the groundwater basin, converted the parkway and median irrigation system from potable to reclaimed water, re-established new trees and landscaping within the entirely of the parkway, and installed an interconnect conduit which will be used in a future interconnect project and/or […]
