Project Description
The City of Thousand Oaks partnered with Southern California Edison, Spectrum, Crown Castle, and numerous property owners to greatly improve the City’s main thoroughfare by removing 1.5 miles of overhead electrical and communication wires, along with 53 electrical poles from Thousand Oaks Blvd. This included undergrounding all of SCE’s existing overhead 16kV distribution and 66kV transmission electrical lines, along with all communication lines from Spectrum and Crown Castle across the entire 1.5 mile project limits, with the 2 separate trenches placed on both sides of the street. The project limits extended across several important landmarks such as the Post Office, Auto Mall, Westlake High School, several of the City’s key retail districts, in addition to crossing the City’s busiest intersection with 30,000 ADT.
